The reason for their success is the constant release of new smartphones for every budget. And one of them is the Xiaomi Redmi S2, a budget offering that packs a big punch. So, let’s see what it can offer!
Design
Starting with the design, we can see that even the budget users won’t have to pay more for a good-looking device. First of all, it has an aluminum build, with slightly curved edges that give it a premium look and feel in the hand. On the front, you will find the 5.99” display with 720p resolution. It’s following the 18:9 aspect ratio road, meaning that you’re going to get a taller screen with smaller bezels. There are no visible buttons on the front, as the UI navigation is being done with the onscreen keys. On the back, you will find the camera setup in the top corner and the fingerprint sensor in the middle. The Mi branding is placed at the bottom of the device.
Features
Moving on to the performance, as with many of the other great budget smartphones, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 is a small powerhouse. Starting with the chipset, you’re going to find the Snapdragon 625 processor inside it. Therefore, you can be assured that almost all tasks and processes will be executed swiftly. The processor is accompanied by either 3 or 4GB of RAM and either 32 or 64GB of internal storage, respectively. Whichever option you go for, all of your multitasking needs should be satisfied. The internal storage is more than enough for all of your files and apps. In case that is not enough for you, a microSD card slot is available for further expansion. Finally, the device comes with a 3000mAh battery that should easily last you through a full day.
Going over to the cameras, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 comes with a dual camera setup on the back and a single shooter on the front. Starting with the back, you’re getting a 12MP + 5MP combo that takes decent pictures. Also, the second lens is being used for the famous portrait mode effect, and pictures out of them have good color saturation and dynamic range. On the front, the device comes with an AI-assisted 16MP shooter. Hence, the AI helps the software determine the subject and adjust the camera settings according to it. Therefore, this should be perfect for all of you selfie lovers, even for the nighttime thanks to the included LED flash.
On the software side, the device is coming packed with Android Oreo 8.1, with the MIUI skin on top of it. The skin is probably one of the best among customers, and it provides a lot of useful features and customizations.
