GSMA Brand App Challenge Opens
For mobile application developers, the GSMA has now announced the Brand App Challenge is open and they are accepting entries for this competition in which mobile app devs will create “brand apps” for a selection of consumer brands.
According to the Virtual Press Office, the Brand App Challenge includes global consumer brands such as Coca-Cola along with Diet Coke, Coke Zero and the winner of the Brand App Challenge will be announced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona between the 14th and 17th of February 2011.
The GSMA chief marketing officer, Michael O’Hara, says: “The Brand App Challenge will create networking and business opportunities which benefit the brands, application developers and the broader mobile ecosystem. This competition taps the creativity and capabilities of the mobile application developer community to address brand and industry challenges, and we are thrilled to be working with Coca-Cola to help them maximise the power of mobile.”
The Brand Apps will address a varied range of mobile OS’s including Apple’s iPhone iOS, Symbian, Android, BlackBerry OS 6, Windows Phone 7 and HP webOS. Each brand will select 5 finalists which will then compete to become the overall winner.
