If you are an owner of an Android device and perhaps thinking eventually your Android toting device will be upgraded to the Android Honeycomb operating system you might want to think again as apparently your current device won’t see Honeycomb.

According to an article over on Phone Arena and by way of PC Mag, the managing director of Enspert Bobby Cha, a consumer electronic company in Korea has said that Google Android Honeycomb tablet operating system will require a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor to be able to run properly.

Which of course means that existing Android devices will not be upgradeable to Honeycomb as they don’t sport the necessary processor spec and the NIVIDA Tegra 2 is the only product currently in devices that include a Cortex-A9.

Apparently Cha also commented that “Honeycomb does not require 10-inch [screens] … it’s going to go as small as 7 inch.” However a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 may also be necessary. This also means that the Samsung Galaxy Tab can be upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread but not Android Honeycomb.

So if true current Android tablets will be stuck with whatever version operating system they are currently using and as for Android smartphones, will looks like you’ll have to wait and see what comes after Android 2.3 Gingerbread to find out if your OS will get better.
