It appears that Amazon didn’t like the name of their Kindle platform, which up until now has been known as the Kindle DTP (Kindle Digital Text Platform) and thus those at the helm have decided to give the platform a new moniker.

According to an article over on Beta News, Amazon Kindle DTP will henceforth be known as Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing although everything else to do with the self-publishing platform will remain unchanged.

Most will probably be aware that they can get a mobile app of Amazon Kindle for their smartphone such as Kindle for the iPhone and Apple iPad and kindle for Android which I happen to have on my Samsung Galaxy S and kindle apps are also available for PC so you don’t actually need a kindle to read the ebooks.

With Amazon kindle you can even get sample chapters for free along with paid for ebooks, which are delivered to your chosen device via Amazon Whispernet, which is according to Techarena is a “wireless delivery system enabled the user for to surf the web as well as to download ebooks and other Kindle content but without any use of an outside internet provider.”
