Android Froyo Update Confirmed for Samsung Epic and Galaxy Tab
A few days ago we reported that the long wait for the Android 2.2 Froyo update to hit the Samsung Epic 4G, Samsung Transform and Samsung Galaxy Tab would resume as of today, and now the word is both Sprint and Samsung have made that official.
According to an article over on Engadget old Sammy and Sprint have got their act together at last and pushed out a press release confirming that as of today the 21st of March the Android 2.2 Froyo update will begin roll out once again.
No doubt Samsung Epic 4g owners will remember that Froyo was pushed out before and them pulled, but apparently and of course if all goes well the Samsung Epic 4G and Samsung Galaxy Tab will receive Android 2.2 Froyo this week that will deliver Sprint’s Android skin, Sprint ID, Flash 10.1 and Bluetooth dialling.
So keep your eyes open for the over the air update, which apparently notifications will be sent out to all owners and all owners should gain the updated firmware by Thursday the 24th of March.
So there it is Epic and Galaxy Tab owners should have Android 2.2 Froyo by the end of the week, no mention as to whether the Samsung Transform would be getting the update though as previously thought, other than the Transform already has Sprint ID.

I will believe it when I actually have a (functioning!) Epic 4G with froyo
So many clumsy things about the Android, I don't know where to begin. The latest straw is the lack of cut&paste in Memo. Recently have run into many Calendar deficiencies: now way to default 15 minute alarm, no every-other-week event, no easy way to enter an event with attributes, must always scroll through many attributes I don't need, and on and on and on.
Look, I'm just a simple person trying to make this thing work. I'm returning mine, will switch to an iPad.
You should be able to select text, copy text, and paste text (and cut/paste too)! Just press and hold over the note section! Option screen should appear from there!
Yeah, you’re a simpleton alright. Take your crApple iPad and shove it up your butt, fanboi.
You can set up an every other week calendar event by using the calendar function in Gmail and it will sync to your device. I agree this should be part of the calendar, but honestly the android stock calendar app sucks. I use business calendar (beta) and it is WORLDS better than the stock android app. Much closer to a blackberry type calendar, which is what I was looking for.The memo pad app also sucks, but free apps like Springpad are much better anyways. Don't say android is awful just bc you don't like a few apps… just check out your other options on the market and you'll most likely find something to fit your needs. -The ipad has its own issues, but I admit it is a better choice for non-tech people bc of its "so easy a caveman can do it" interface. Good luck customizing it, replacing the battery, or adding more memory if you ever need to bc that is impossible with an ipad… but just wait a year and buy the newest replacement model, that's the apple way.
Froyo update hit my Epic @ 8:30am EST today – located in GA. So far the only bug found was it wiped out my alarm clock. Simply reinstalled and good to go!
How did you get your alarm clock back? Same thing happend to my friends and she is pissed!!!
Is there a way to download the update?
Can't wait to get screwed and disappointed by Sprint when they once again wont release Froyo for the Transform.
I've been with Sprint for almost 10 years and because of this BS that Sprint keeps shoveling us over and over with the Transform Froyo update, I'm looking to switch to another carrier once and for all. I'm pretty sure there are other people out there will do the same.
Sprint make with your promise on updating the Transform to Froyo !
How do I get the upgrade on my phone as we speak… anyone?
I just got my update and i could not be happier its so awesome
I got my update on Friday the 24th. Everything seems fine – except for the most important thing I use on the phone. It wiped out my corporate exchange email account and won't let me re-install it. I've taken the phone to the Sprint store, talked to Sprint techs over the phone who tried to walk me through a solution, and talked with Samsung directly. No one seems to be able to fix it. Has anyone else had experience with this? I have to have my work email. That's why I bought this phone in the first place.
