Apple iPad 2, Asus Transformer Comparison Battle Video

We have another battle video between iOS and Android today on the tablet front today, obviously pitting Apple’s latest baby, the Apple iPad 2 against the latest Android tablet to hit the scene, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer.

The iPad 2 versus the Asus Eee Pad Transformer comparison video comes our way courtesy of Jon Rettinger over at Technobuffalo, who places the iOS and Android tablets in a head to head confrontation to see which can come out the victor.

In this 22-minute tablet battle Jon, puts both tablets through 6 rounds, operating system, speed, screen, browser, intangibles and applications, but which of these two rivals can come out on top in this iOS against Android tablet battle?

Now obviously I’m not gong to answer that as you’ll need to set aside a little time, sit back and hit the play button to find out the result, bet will you agree with Jon’s appraisal and choice of victor? Feel free to let us know by shouting out in our comments area below…enjoy.

  1. John, Thorough, fair and entertaining review. Well worth the 22 minute investment. I learned a lot from your in depth analysis. Do you have any thoughts on relative battery life for the tablets? If wallpaper were a category, the Asus would win that one, hands down!

What a fair and thorough review. So often I read Apple versus Android reviews that are slanted and tainted.
Great job and a big help, although I was thinking about finally getting an IPad 2 (even though I'm an Android fan) and now I don't know…

Great review, makes a change to hear an unbiased review as so many are clearly in love with Apple. The only thing that really lets the Eee Pad down is the lack of apps, which i'm sure will improve in the near future.

Great review! And timely too. I am new to carrying around a pad and was considering the two models. I would have given the Asus Eee Pad the edge over the Ipad 2 on the Intangibles category. As a student, I would have liked to see a comparison on the note-taking capabilities of both models (i.e. stylus, screen pad, keyboard and mouse, etc.).

Anyway, thanks for posting this video!

Excellent review! With Android just starting in the tablet market it seems to me that it will end up dominating this segment the same as it now dominates the smartphone market.
I'm waiting to see what Samsung can produce -hopefully next month-before I buy.

most places I've seen the Asus on sale it comes with the keyboard, and that's still going to be cheaper than the equivalent iPad2

if you like Android, the Transformer is definitely the best Android tablet on the market at the moment

One very important feature, to me, regarding the browser that was left out of this review is tabbed browsing. With Android you can utilize tabbed browsing as you do on your full size computer. To me that is a big deal making the browser experience better. You said browsing is your thing with these tablets so I was surprised that you did not mention tabbed browsing as benefit. Am I missing something? I have an iPad 2 but am going to buy the ASUS or new Galaxy Tab 10.1.

One other thing for me is quick navigation of the OS. I also have a Droid X and after using the iPad 2 I said to my wife "you know the iPad 2 is a bit clunky getting around in it compared to android." I as surprised to say that but I can get to stuff faster and easier on Android and that to me that is a pretty significant benefit.

And btw… I am neutral as well on the OS's. For example, I have Mac Book Pro, Droid X, iPad 2, iPhone and soon the Android tablets.

    Good review. Thanks
