Amazon Android Tablets Release August or September
A while back it was rumoured that Amazon would be stepping into the tablet market by offering an Amazon Android tablet, and actually the word was Amazon was looking to release more than just one Android based slate, and today there comes a rumour of a possible release period for said Amazon tablets.
According to the guys over at Apple Insider, Taiwan-based component makers have informed DigiTimes that Amazon is gearing up to release their tablet devices in August or September, and apparently the release has been timed so the slates can gain momentum in the run up to Thanksgiving and the festive buying season in both the US and Europe.
Apparently the Amazon tablets, which we presume will be Android based, as the article doesn’t actually say, will sport Texas Instrument processors along with Wintek touch panels and will be assembled by Quanta.
Apparently the source also stated that Amazon would supply streaming movie services to their devices and it is expected that monthly shipments of said devices would reach 700,000 to 800,000 units.
And that’s about all that’s known at the moment, but as soon as we hear any further details on these Amazon tablet such as specs, pricing and availability we’ll of course pass it along.
