For all you Samsung Android fans over in the good ole US of A who have been patiently waiting any word on just when the United States is likely to see the release of the Samsung Galaxy S II, the word is you won’t have too much longer to wait as Samsung has now gone all official and announced said release date, well almost.

Unfortunately old Sammy hasn’t gone the whole hog and delivers an actual date for the release of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone, but they have stated that the handset will come out to play on US shores sometime next month, still at least now you know the handset will be coming sooner rather than later.

According to Yonhap News, the president of Samsung Mobile Business and Digital Imaging, Shin Jong-kyun has stated, “We expect to release the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. market sometime in August.”

Apparently it is rumoured that Samsung will release the Samsung Galaxy S II to American hopefully possibly a week before the expected release of rival Apple’s next generation iOS smartphone, the iPhone 5, however that is speculation as I’m fairly sure even Samsung doesn’t know for sure when Apple will deliver the next generation iPhone.

Although the successor to the original and successful Samsung Galaxy S was released in Europe some time ago, word had it that the release of the Galaxy S II to the USA had been delayed due to ” Negotiations with American telecom companies have dragged on.”

Apparently in a recent interview with Yonhap News, Shin Jong-kyun said, “the company’s smartphone sales are expected to top 60 million this year, beating its annual target, thanks to the latest Android-based smartphones and other low to mid-range smartphones.”

However it is expected that Samsung will undoubtedly face an up-hill slog when Apple does eventually release the iPhone 5 which according to rumour could be anytime from August onwards, but the general feeling is that Apple will launch the device sometime in September.

So there you go American Android faithful, if you have been waiting to know when you can snap up the Samsung Galaxy S II, it would appear that you will be finally able to do so sometime in the not too distant future as long as everything goes to plan and there are of course no further delays.
