Not too long ago we saw a new smartphone that was destined for the Verizon network, a smartphone that is known as the Samsung Stratosphere, a device that was thought to be the Samsung Galaxy S II for the Big Red network; however apparently this is no longer the case, the Stratosphere is still coming but it isn’t apparently Verizon’s version of the Galaxy S II.

I’m not sure how we missed this one but back on Thursday of last week, the guys over at Droid-life got the latest details from their sources on a couple of devices that were mentioned in the previously leaked Verizon roadmap.

Apparently sources have come up with some details on the HTC Vigor, which are a 4.3-inch 720p HD touch screen, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM and runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. Apparently the HTC Vigor resembles the HTC Thunderbolt minus the kickstand and apparently runs a new version of HTC Sense that the source has budded “3.5.”

The sources then came up with details on the LG Revolution 2, which include a 4.5-inch HD touch screen, and equipped to play nice on the Big Red’s 4G LTE network, and apparently is very thin, possible thinner than the iPhone 4 or the HTC Vigor, but no other details.

Then comes the biggie, apparently they say the new Samsung Stratosphere will not be Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S II variant but is rather a slider device previous seen that looks like the Epic 4G, although release date wise they say the Samsung Stratosphere is still expected the same day as the Motorola Droid Bionic, which is of course the 8th of September.

So there you go, those who were hoping the Samsung Stratosphere would be Verizon’s shiny new Galaxy S II will apparently be disappointed, that is of course if the guy’s sources have come up with good that are spot on and not just speculation.
