As you know the lawsuit battlefront continues to expand across the globe in the Apple against Samsung confrontation, and thus far Apple seems to be taking the high ground and managing to have Samsung gear banned, but the worm is about to turn as the latest word in this fight is that Samsung plans on taking legal action to ban the thus far unreleased iPhone 5 as soon as it hits Korea.

According to the guys over at Apple Insider, by way of the Korea Times, insiders at Samsung Korea have indicated that the company plans of taking immediate legal action against the next generation iPhone as soon as Apple attempts to release the iPhone 5 on Sammy’s home turf.

Apparently an unnamed Samsung exec has stated, “Just after the arrival of the iPhone 5 here, Samsung plans to take Apple to court here for its violation of Samsung’s wireless technology related patents. For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.”

However, a different Samsung exec says that Samsung’s legal team has some different strategies on the cards, and said, “We are taking different tactics since we are quite confident. If Samsung wins in Germany that will give us a big breakthrough and so will other envisioned efforts against such products as the iPhone 5.”

Apparently Samsung also told the newspaper that the iPhone 5 will come with NFC functionality, but although there have been rumours the next iOS smartphone will have NFC, Apple hasn’t confirmed this.

So it would seem that this legal fight between the two mobile giants has a long way to run yet, but if Samsung is successful in halting sales of the iPhone 5 in Korea it will be a kick in Apple’s side, and Apple will know what its like as Samsung did with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany, and if successful no doubt Samsung will seek the same in other countries.
