Gingerbread LG DoublePlay Twin Screen and QWERTY Announced by T-Mobile
If you are one that loves having a physical QWERTY keyboard on your touch screen smartphone, T-Mobile has now announced the latest Android addition to their stable that offers the user a touch screen, and a physical QWERTY with a sub touch screen positioned in the keyboard’s centre, the LG DoublePlay.
According to the guys over at Slash Gear, the LG DoublePlay is a slider handset that offers twin touch screens with a QWERTY keyboard and is expected to become available sometime before the holiday period.
The LG DoublePlay is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone that packs a 3.5-inch touch screen, a slide out physical QWERTY keyboard with a 2-inch sub display in the centre, a 5 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash, 720p video, and a 1GHz single core processor.
Apparently LG has customised the software to enable the use of both screens either simultaneously or independently that shows elements of the same applications and thus delivering the ability to monitor 2 apps at the same time.
According to the guys the connectivity has yet to be confirmed but as the device shows a 4G icon they presume the LG DoublePlay will support HSPA+. When it comes to handling communications, that’s handled by LG Group Text and LG Cloud Text, along with cross-platform chat between the LG DoublePlay and LG tablets.
NO word on an exact release date for the LG DoublePLay, or what the Android smartphone might hit T-Mobile customers for.
So does the LG DoublePlay with its twin displays and QWERTY keyboard grab the attention of any of our Android readers out there? If so feel free to let us know by dropping us a comment below.
