iOS to gain update for NFC next year rumour

As you know although Near Field Communication technology isn’t exactly new to the mobile space more and more are delivering NFC functionality in smartphones especially on the Android platform and Nokia’s Symbian devices, but as yet Apple hasn’t delivered NFC functionality to the iPhone.

However, according to an article over on Ubergizmo by way of DigiTimes, Taiwan based smartphone makers are saying both Apple and Microsoft are planning to deliver NFC functionality to iOS and Windows Phone sometime in 2012.

So presumable that NFC will come to the iPhone via an iOS update or even come along in the much sought after iPhone 5 although at this time all this is just rumour and no one has actually confirmed anything as usual.

Although Near Field Communication has been available for ages for some reason the technology hasn’t really taken off in the mobile space until recently, but no doubt will go from strength to strength especially if Apple adopts the tech for their iDevices.

Personally I don’t and wont use NFC as I still prefer to do my paying for goods and services the old fashioned way as I still feel the tried and tested way of paying is still far more secure, but as I sy that’s my own opinion on NFC and no doubt many have another opinion that moving to NFC is a really great idea.

How do you feel about NFC technology, are you open to using the tech on your chosen smartphone or tablet, feel free to let us know by posting to our comments area below.
