So time for a little more rumour on the next generation iOS slate this morning, as we have already heard, the three suppliers of LCD panels for the Apple iPad 3 are said to be Samsung, LG and Sharp; however when it comes to Sharp, it would appear the company is having a bit of a problem.

According to the guys over at 9to5 Mac by way of Electronic Times Internet News, both Samsung and LG have begun full production of Apple iPad 3 panels as of the start of the year, but Sharp apparently failed Apple’s approval process for mass production.

Apparently old Sammy was the first to kick off mass production late in 2011 whilst LG entered the game at the beginning of 2012.

The report also says that Apple plans to unveil the iPad 3 soon with a display four times higher than that of the Apple iPad 2, with a resolution of XQGA 2048 x 1536 and that Apple is planning on placing orders for some 65 million LCD iPad 3 panels during this year.

It has been claimed that both Samsung and LG will deliver 5 million of the panels in the first quarter in order to meet expected demand for the Apple iPad 3 launch, although the report only cites the usual unnamed “industry sources.”

However according to a report by Macotakara, both Foxconn and Pegatron have already started placing component orders for the iPad 3 to meet an “early March launch.”
