Doro PhoneEasy 740 is smart but old

Yesterday we spoke about a newcomer to the smartphone arena that concentrates on simple handsets for the seniors, that company is called Doro and today we have news of one of their easy to use handsets called the Doro PhoneEasy 740, and Android handset with Doro’s user-friendly launcher known as Doro Experience.

Whilst at MWC 2012 in Barcelona the guys over at Engagdet managed to get a little hands on time with the Doro PhoneEasy 740, a handset that doesn’t quite deliver impressive specification whilst the Doro Experience provides a few smartphone functions such as phone, messages, pictures and email.

The handsets specs include a 3.2-inch HVGA touch screen, slide down keyboard, a 5 megapixel camera, 512MB of RAM, FM radio, 4GB internal memory, and up to 4-hours of continuous talk time, and that’s about it, so a smart but fairly old.

According to the guys the Doro Experience UI will be available to tablets sometime in the spring as an optional Android launcher, and can be paired with the desktop app Doro Experience Manager that enables the user to customise and manage their device.

Again the Doro PhoneEasy 740 handset is targeted towards the elderly segment, and as the software isn’t fully functional just yet it is expected the handset should be ready for launch sometime in the summer; however there is no world on availability or pricing for the Doro PhoneEasy 740 at this time.
