The speed that developers manage to come up with jailbreaks for devices never ceases to amaze us and today’s news is pretty staggering. It seems that the new iPad (third-generation) on iOS 5.1, which was only released yesterday has been jailbroken already and although the jailbreak is not yet at the public release stage, at least it looks as though it could be soon.

Well-known iOS hacker MuscleNerd has tweeted to show photos demonstrating the jailbreak on the new iPad. MuscleNerd himself states that there’s no ETA yet on when the jailbreak will be publicly available and that the jailbreak is in the early stages. As we recently told how a jailbreak looked to be on the way for the iPad 2 using iOS 5.1 it’s even more of a surprise to see such progress with a jailbreak for the new iPad so early on.

We learned about this new jailbreak from BGR but Gotta Be Mobile has a further update to this story and it seems an untethered jailbreak for the new iPad is also on the way. Another prolific hacker i0n1c has introduced an iOS 5.1 new iPad jailbreak. Again there’s no idea yet when this may be available and we’re warned it could take days or even months but let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later. I0n1c has also given us the joy of a video demonstrating a working untethered jailbreak on the new iPad. We’ve embedded that video for you below this story.
