While users of the iOS platform patiently wait for the jailbreak community to find a solution to the latest iOS software, users of the Android platform often benefit from the openness of it with various custom firmware’s, and today we have news of the CM7 version 7.2 that blesses 70 popular devices.

According to an article over at the Android Authority the CyanogenMod team revealed recently what devices will be getting the CM9 upgrade. Now for those that were left disappointed by the news will be pleased to hear what the latest release from the team has in store.

Android users that have CM7 or Gingerbread installed on their device and know they won’t be able to receive Ice Cream Sandwich anytime in the future, will like the CyanogenMod 7.2 Release Candidate, as it brings with it some ICS visuals, and a predictive dialler among other things.

The software is based on the open source code of Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, and brings with it some nice transition and rotation effects that are found on ICS. Users will be treated to the predictive phone dialler that is similar to what is found on Samsung’s TouchWiz and HTC’s Sense Android overlays, which looks through your contacts for matching names and numbers as you enter in a number.

Other new features include a number of Wi-Fi bug fixes, lock screen updates and new styles, enhanced calendar reminder options, support for Bluetooth USB dongles, and better support for mouse and USB keyboards.

Some of the handsets that can get the update include the likes of the Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy Ace, Mini, Epic, LG Optimus Black, Sony Ericsson Xperia Live, and the Huawei U8150 among others.
