Obviously if you have used Google today you will have noticed that the Google doodle celebrates the 138th birthday of Howard Carter, who was the English archaeologist that in 1922 discovered the tomb of pharaoh Tutankhamun, which was the most intact and best preserved tomb to be discovered in the Valley of the Kings.

So as today it the 138th birthday of Howard Carter, we thought we’d also celebrate by bring a few Tutankhamun inspired mobile apps for your consideration. We have five apps altogether, three for the iOS platform and two for the Android platform.

So we’ll kick off with iOS first, with the Tutankhamun app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and Apple iPad, and this app is a book covering the discovery of the Tutankhamun tomb, and probably Egypt’s most famous Pharaoh.

The Tutankhamun iOS app covers such things as Egypt and the Pharaohs, the like of Tutankhamun, the restoration of Anum, the death of a Pharaoh, and of course the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun. Next up we have another iOS book called Tutankhamun Uncovered, an app that is a work of fiction but based upon known historical events, and re-examines the characters, lives, beliefs and environments of the boy king and the discoverer of the tomb of Tutankhamun, Howard Carter.

Tutankhamun Undiscovered brings new interpretations to explain many of the questions that still surround the life and times of the boy king, and the discovery of the tomb with vivid characters and explicit descriptions. The Tutankhamun Undiscovered app can be downloaded to your iOS device from iTunes at a cost of $12.99.

The last of the iOS app is the Tutankhamun — His Tomb and His Treasures app, which is basically an app that lets you explore the contents of Tutankhamun’s tomb by way of an exhibition with thousands of replicas of the most important objects, Howard Carter’s documents, notes and drawings.

The Tutankhamun — His Tomb and His Treasures iOS app allows the use to permanently have all the content of the exhibition loaded onto their iPhone when visiting the exhibition so you don’t have any roaming charges. The Tutankhamun — His Tomb and His Treasures app is available to download for free from iTunes.

Moving on to the Android platform the first app is the Tutankhamun Undiscovered app for Android, which is the same as the Tutankhamun Undiscovered app for iOS that re-examines the characters, lives, beliefs and environments of the boy king and the discoverer of the tomb of Tutankhamun, Howard Carter.

Just like the iOS version, the Android version again brings new interpretations to explain many of the questions that still surround the life and times of the boy king, and the discovery of the tomb with vivid characters and explicit descriptions. The Tutankhamun Undiscovered app for Android can be downloaded from Google Play at a cost of £7.49.

Lastly we have The Tutankhamun Trumpet app for Android devices, and is an app that apparently lets you sound off the silver trumpet of Tutankhamun, which was found in 1922 in the boy king’s tomb, and has only been played twice due to its fragility, in 1939.

The Tutankhamun Trumpet app for Android contains a unique recording of that 1939 performance, and the sound of the trumpet is claimed to be a powerful amulet that drives away negativity. So for those that wish to try out the Tutankhamun Trumpet you can download the app at a cost of £0.89 from Google Play.
