Nyx Mobile Twist Connect, Lyuba Max & Fun phones
We like to keep readers informed about all the mainstream phones but occasionally we come across something a little different and quirky. Today we some details of a trio of phones for you and they are the Nyx Mobile Lyuba Max, Nyx Mobile Lyuba Fun and Nyx Mobile Twist Connect.
First off we’ll take a look at the Lyuba Max and Lyuba Fun, two frameless designs from Nyx Mobile. Both will be running on Android 4.0 ICS and feature single-core 1.2GHz processors. The Max has a 5-inch LCD display with resolution of 800 x 480 while the Fun has a 4-inch HVGA display so we’re not pretending that the hardware is anything to impress your friends with. Nevertheless they have a certain something about them, particularly design-wise.
Engadget managed to get a hands-on look at non-functioning mockups of these two phones and were impressed at the lack of frames, looking to make bezels defunct. They noticed for example that the Lyuba Max at 63mm wide was in fact trimmer than the Galaxy Nexus that has a smaller display but measures 68mm wide and that the 4-inch wide Lyuba Fun felt at least half an inch smaller due to the clever design. Both are due to go into production in the next two to three months.
Moving on to the Nyx Mobile Twist Connect and again Engadget were fortunate enough to get a hands-on experience. This is a neat little feature phone with a unique ‘twist’ (excuse the pun). When you want to use it for playing music the bottom part of the phone simply twists completely around moving the full QWERTY keyboard to the reverse and exposing stereo speakers and music controls for volume control, skipping tracks, play and pause. This is a nice touch and something we think would particularly appeal to the younger market.
The Twist Connect is also a dual-SIM device with Nyx Messenger integration and when messaging the keyboard is also at an angle for easier typing. The “bulky and plasticky” feel is not so appealing and neither is the display but because of it’s uniqueness it may well find a niche in the market. No doubt we’ll be hearing more about all of these phones from Nyx Mobile over the coming weeks and months.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on these three new handsets from Nyx. Does the quirkiness of the Twist Connect appeal to you of maybe you’re impressed by the frameless Lyuba Max and Fun? Send your comments to let us know.
