Google Samsung Nexus tablet rumoured

The tablet PC market is still dominated by the Apple iPad despite a number of rival Android alternatives becoming available to consumers, so far these devices have really failed to completely capture the buying public’s imagination and take a real big bite out of Apple’s market share, but again there are rumours of a Google Nexus tablet being released and it could be manufactured by Samsung.

According to an article over at Electric Pig it is being claimed that Google could again be teaming up with Samsung but this time with a tablet PC, despite recent rumours suggesting that Asus would be the company providing the rumoured Nexus tablet. Android developer, Adam Green, claims to have found pieces of code in Google’s Git Repository, which hints to the use of Samsung specs that includes references to an Exynos 5250 dual-core processor.

Other references point to a Mali GPU and a S6E8AB0 screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, and the word Exynos comes from Samsung’s own processors and the Exynos 4412 is the unit that is powering the upcoming Galaxy S3. Google has its annual I/O event pencilled in for June 27th through to the 29th, and this could be the first time we are shown the Android 5.0 Jellybean operating system.

Previously new Android launches have brought with it their own Nexus handsets, which was built by Samsung last time round, and this year it is believed we could see a Nexus tablet as well. With the code hinting to a display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 suggests it is more for a tablet over a smartphone.

Time will tell if this information is true but the Nexus range of smartphones has proven to be successful for Google, so expanding the range to tablet PCs makes sense. Would you like to see a Nexus tablet by Samsung?
