LG Optimus 4X HD June launch for Europe

Most of the news surrounding new hardware on the Android platform in recent weeks was the new offering from Samsung, but fans of the platform have a number of great handsets to choose from that includes the recent HTC One X, and now LG have announced that the LG Optimus 4X HD will have a June launch in Europe.

The handset was first announced at the MWC event back in February, and as the unwired are reporting the device will be hitting Western Europe in June. The device is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, and packs the largest battery unit powering a quad core processor on a handset with a massive 2,150 mAh power pack. It will come running Android ICS 4.0 straight out of the box and the display is LG’s 4.7-inch True HD IPS unit.

Users should experience good battery life as the processor is the same unit found in the HTC One X, which uses a fifth core for better power efficiency. The Tegra 3 normally runs on all four cores but when the device is in standby mode the handset switches to a fifth battery saver core. LG will introduce an Eco-Mode in a future update that will allow owners to manually shut down any of the Tegra 3 cores for even better control over battery life and performance.

The battery is removable and uses advanced SiO+ technology to provide even higher energy density, which provides more power and longer run times but without adding bulk to the handsets form factor. Another new feature coming with the device is Quick Memo that is integrated into the operating system, and it allows users to take memos or notes over a screen image to save or share with others.

Media Plex has also been added to the Optimus 4X HD and is a collection of software features that raise image and video playback on a handset to a level that was previously only available on a laptop or PC. We have previously given you a video of the upcoming device in action and the next few weeks promises to be exciting for Android fans with all the new hardware being released.

Will you be considering getting the LG Optimus 4X HD over the Samsung Galaxy S3?
