LG handsets may not be top of many Android fans wish lists when it comes to purchasing a new smartphone, but the company has some great looking handsets in the pipeline for this year that may change this. Today we have news of the LG Optimus LTE 2 that is just about to be released in Korea and some detailed specs.

The handset when it is released will be the first device to come running the completely overhauled LG Optimus UI 3.0 Android overlay, which will also feature on the Optimus 4X HD once it is released next month in Europe and the UK. Meanwhile the team over at Engadget has managed to get their hands on the specifications for the soon to be released Optimus LTE 2.

In case anyone had forgot LG has reminded everyone that the handset will be the first phone to feature 2GB of RAM when it launches this week, and the handset will also ship with a 4.7-inch True HD IPS LCD screen. Other specifications include an eight megapixel camera powered by a 1.5 GHZ dual core processor, which is identical to its predecessor.

The handset does weigh in at an extra ten grams though, which is probably down to the welcomed larger 2,150 mAh battery. It will also have support for wireless charging so the handset will beat the Samsung Galaxy S III to the market with that feature. LG are promising the handset has enhanced power management so watching movies on that lovely big screen shouldn’t be a problem. It has 5.1 audio output via the correct cable connected to your home theatre system or TV.
