Currently with the Android platform Samsung and HTC are ruling the roost with the most desirable hardware being released recently, while many Android fans would not think of purchasing a device from LG. The company is busy looking to improve its market share though by releasing some great looking handsets over the next few months, and today we have some leaked images of the LG Eclipse that reveal NFC compatibly among other things.

The guys over at BriefMobile have been sent some images of the LG Eclipse, which has been said to be the next superphone to rival the Galaxy S3. The images show that the upcoming handset will have Near Field Communication along with a removable battery, which adds to specifications that have already been leaked for the device.

The reported specs for the device will give consumers something to think about in the coming months when deciding to purchase a new Android smartphone. It will feature an impressive 4.67-inch 720p LCD display, which is powered by a 1.5GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 processor with an Adreno 320 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. It will also feature an impressive 13 megapixel camera with LED flash and 16GB of on board storage.

For US customers the handset will also offer 4G LTE connectivity, and while you can get lost with a list of specs the company has been busy working on its software. The Eclipse will obviously come running Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but LG has been hard at work overhauling its Android overlay that is now called Optimus UI 3.0.

The images also show space for an embedded microSIM card for Sprint and sources are tipping the device to arrive by the fourth quarter of the year, so by that time the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 could be both available so let the battle commence.
