Google Motorola Mobility acquisition officially complete
I’m sure everyone in the mobile space knows that the Google guys have been wanting to acquire Motorola, and have been going through the necessary hoops to get the deal done and dusted, and now a few days after China approved the acquisition, the Google guys have announced the acquisition of Motorola Mobility is now officially complete.
According to an article over on Slash Gear, Larry Page made the official announcement via the official Google Blog, and apparently long time Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha has stepped down, and taking his place is Dennis Woodside.
Woodside has been with Google for quite a while and has served as bot SVP and President of Google Americas, and has been credited with increasing Google’s American revenue in 3 years from $10.8 billion up to $17.5 billion.
Larry Page said on the Google Blog that Motorola is a great American tech firm that has driven the mobile revolution and has a track record of over 80-years of innovation, including the creation of the first mobile phone, and as a firm that took a big bet on Android, Motorola has become an incredibly valued partner.
However, even though the acquisition of Motorola is now compete, there is no indication as to just what Google will do with Motorola, although it has been said that there will be a wall between the 2 divisions to avoid fears from Android OEM partners. But no doubt we will all find out soon enough just what the Google guys have in store for Motorola in the future.
