Covering iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak info sheet

Although we can’t recommend that our readers use jailbreaking technques on their devices, we also know just how many of you can’t wait for the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak to arrive. We’ve been bringing you developments almost daily on the efforts of pod2g and others to bring the jailbreak to release and we know it is now imminent. With that in mind we wanted to bring you the latest news of an info sheet that has been issued that covers the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak.

Yesterday we gave readers some details on how to get prepped for the arrival of the untethered jailbreak and things you might want to consider before its arrival. The latest info has come from famed iOS hacker MuscleNerd who also reinforces that the release of the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak should come before the week is over, although points out that other factors could influence that. He also reminds everyone who may use the jailbreak not to pirate AppStore apps.

News of the info sheet comes to us from iDownload Blog and we’ll run through some of the main points although MuscleNerd points out the details are subject to change following refinements. Firstly we learn that all devices are covered with the exception of Apple TV 3,1 as we already learned with the previous list of covered devices. Also a kernel exploit has been provided by @planetbeing to cover the iPod 3,1 and iPhone 2,1.

MuscleNerd also points out that the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for A5 devices is very similar to that for the iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for A5’s and @pimskeks comes in for some praise for Absinthe support for both. We also learn that multiple tools will support the 5.1.1 jailbreak in different ways such as redsn0w, Absinthe and cinject and a new Paypal account is available for those grateful recipients of the jailbreak who may wish to contribute.

Pod2g’s blog also reiterates this same information and we’ll be keeping our noses to the ground sniffing out the latest information as it appears. Are you waiting for the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak? What for you, are the main benefits of jailbreaking your device and what do you think of the ingenious work of the developers and hackers that bring these jailbreaks to a general release? Let us have your comments on this.

Improving the general ios experience, with switches for bluetooth, airplane mode etc in the notifcation center are just something you can’t live without once you have tried.

Then there is also anyattach, that allows one to attach anything to a mail when in the email (which ios unbelie ably doesn’t do natively), and whole lot of nice stuff I have been forced to do without since ios 5.1.

Just can’t wait to get these back!

There’s a tone of things the iOS for iDevices could use:
Themes: helps with accessibility needs and makes the iDevices more appealing.
Switches: Make turning things on/off quicker. Saves some battery.
Fonts: Basicly the same as themes.
SpringBoard tweaks: Makes the iDevice experience more WOW.

I do not understand why apple do not put these features in there iOS,s?

If there were a million people plus donating a £1 to the hackers it will sustain their work for many years to come and we will always have our freedom from apple. Remember people, it is free but a little donation won’t hurt.
Thank you pod2g for giving me Curia back for my iPad 3

For all those involved in the steps it takes to give us the gift of jailbreaking, I applaud you and like Google, you are GOD…. I thank you

Yeah, huge thanks jailbreak team, and I’ll be donating once I have it installed.  I agree with many – why doesn’t Apple add many of these tweaks into iOS (and release restrictions, e.g. on 3G download size (thank God for 3G Unrestrictor)), or make them available in the App Store?  They don’t hurt, and make the iOS experience even better (and would make the developers a good deal of money too, I suspect, as well as Apple).  If they are vetted by Apple they will be safe so I don’t see any issues there.  Surely if people are willing to jailbreak to get them this must mean something to Apple?  For me convenience is key to these devices (after all, that’s what they provide isn’t it?), and the ability to customise things (e.g. number of icons on a screen or in a folder) makes this experience even better (and more convenient).  Come on Apple, WAKE UP!!
