Sorry Sprint users, HTC EVO 3D ICS update reaches other regions
We’ve been bringing readers news on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for months now and as usual with Android updates there has been a big difference between manufacturers and carriers in how quickly they push it out. Today we have some good news if you’re an HTC EVO 3D owner in Europe, the Middle East or Africa but not if you have one on Sprint in the U.S.
The Android ICS update for the HTC EVO 3D is now being rolled out in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) although it sounds as though it could be a staged distribution depending on your carrier. You may receive notification if you’re in one of those regions with an EVO 3D but if not it’s worth checking manually. Remember when you do receive the update to backup your device before you begin installing.
ICS is a 300MB download including HTC Sense 3.6 (the lighter Sense 4.0 for non-Series one phones. ICS for the EVO 3D is on its way to plenty of regions then but still no word on when it will rollout to Sprint in the U.S, according to Phandroid, sourced from theunwired. Back in May we told readers of an HTC Android 4.0 ICS update road map and the EVO 3D was listed then to receive the update in June or July so HTC and Sprint still have room to deliver it on time. However the fact that the update is now reaching EMEA but not the US may be disappointing for some Sprint owners.
We’d like to hear from you if you’re the owner of a HTC EVO 3D in any of the above regions. Have you been fortunate enough to be one of the first to receive the update? If so, which carrier and country are you in? Maybe you’re a Sprint HTC EVO 3D user and still waiting? Let us know with your comments.

I can see that Sprint probably got the final code and will be testing to see if all their bloat wear will still work on the phone.Â
updated mid day in uk orangeÂ
everything working great no problems
I’ve been disappointed with Sprint since about a month into my contract. I buy a phone that is 4G capable in San Diego, they never disclose that their 4G won’t roll out in the third most populous city in California for a long long time (years, if ever). Their current technology can’t deal with the terrain here, while I watch AT&T and Verizon users fly by me. Not releasing the new OS along with their ridiculous bloatware has convinced me that ending my contract a year early and paying the fine to go elsewhere is the best option
Hi
I am from Pakistan thanks to inform me i m getting now.
tmobile UK and still waiting, my friend sitting next to me has got his 🙁
I just got ICS update on my EVO 3D. I’m living in Qatar and using Qtel.
The update will be released July 31st but will have bugs.. Another update will be release in September this is a way of them getting more customers to purchase LTE phone
Just got the update on O2 in the Uk thank’s for the heads up.
I am with sprint and they don’t know anything anymore about anything I got EVO 3d and EVO 4g LTE AND the 4G LTE sucks right now it don’t have the service for it
Upgraded yesterday here in Australia, everything seems to be working OK (I am using unlocked so no carrier delays)
Frank Utah USA no update here either 8:23 pm
Just checked for updates and it’s finally here! Updating now. I’m from Latvia, Riga. It’s unlocked phone and carrier is BITE Latvia.
I have an unbranded version of the phone and yet I haven’t gotten the update.
From Egypt.. Carrier is Vodafone EG.
You’d think that with Google pushing Android Jelly Bean, HTC and Sprint could at least get Ice Cream Sandwich rolling, but that would be pretty silly of me to expect from a company that often doesn’t get my text messages to me within an hour.
Just uploaded ICS on unlocked EVO 3D works very well face lock slick
I Cant see the ICS, i have done the checking through setting but to na avail, i even restart the phone severally but no way. please i need help on what to do to get the ICS. From Nigeria on Airtel network
Great,Â
Updated manually in Spain. Unlocked phone. Everything seems OK, very similar to previous version
will i receive an ICS update in unlocked HTC EVO 3D
will i receive an ICS update in unlocked sprint HTC EVO 3D in India
I really like my Evo 3D but Sprint is about to piss me off for the last time! I’ve been with them for 10 years now and have put up with a bunch of there crap but if i don’t get my ICS update by the end of July I will no longer be a Sprint costumer.?
Stupid
This sucks, having to wait. I should have rooted my phone and put the bootleg version on it.
Â
I’ll wait for them to get it right. It seems there are extra technical hurdles to consider with the 3D display and camera. Â When the 3D was released, there was no such thing as ICS, so I consider it a BONUS, not an “included feature” that some of these bozos are threatening to leave Sprint over.Â
