The Samsung Galaxy S4 and one of its variants the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini have both been released in regions worldwide and have proved popular with buyers. Today we have news on special versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini for Optus and its new TDD-LTE 4G network.

The telecoms company said previously that handsets supporting the new network were on the way and let it be known that the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini would be two of the first phones for the network. Now Samsung has made it official that these two smartphones are on the way to Optus.

The Optus TDD-LTE 4G network is so far available in Canberra and will spread to many more locations over the next year. Dual band TDD/FDD-LTE models of the Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini were subjected to comprehensive testing earlier in the year, and the company will utilize both TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE technologies so that customers who have dual 4G devices have access to the 4G network in more areas.

The dual mode Samsung Galaxy S4 for Optus will be available from the middle of next month. Specs and features are virtually the same as with the standard Galaxy S4 phone except for the network support. The phone will be available on the Optus $60 My Plan with handset repayment of $7 per month. This offers 600 minutes of voice calls (standard national), unlimited standard SMS and MMS (applies to Australian Mobiles), and 1GB of mobile internet data (for use in Australia). Alternatively, customers will be able to buy the dual mode Galaxy S4 outright at $744.

Several different plans are offered for the dual mode Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini for Optus. One of these is the $50 My Plan including handset repayment of $5 per month. This plan will give you 450 minutes of voice calls (standard national), unlimited standard SMS and MMS (applies to Australian mobiles), and 500MB of mobile internet data (for use in Australia). If you’d rather purchase the Galaxy S4 Mini outright, the price is $576.
