The small cell phone carrier Cricket, are helping lower-income households on line with a cheaper wireless high-speed internet for the masses. Using the Crickets EVDO Rev A network and a little USB modem that’s links you Windows PC, they are going to call the service “$1.33/day.”

Jeff Toig, Vice president of Cricket says, “There is nobody in the market providing wireless broadband to a low-income customer with no contract” he continued saying “These are people under $50k household income, with no broadband Internet in their homes. This becomes their alternative to DSL or cable.”

Cricket broadband service is available in several Texas cities, Oklahoma City, Las Vegas and St. Louis, and is set to reach all of Cricket’s other cities by the end of the year. Cricket currently has 3.3 million customers in several dozen cities, and by 2010 they intend to double in size. Crickets main business is flat-rate, unlimited voice plans. Cricket is the only carrier offering wireless PC Internet on prepaid that do not require contract commitment or credit checks according to Toig.
