Google Project Ara release date target revealed
The Phonebloks idea was quickly taken up by Google that has a team of engineers and designers working on the development, and now the Google Project Ara release date target has been revealed.
Earlier this month the company provided us with a video update on how the project was progressing and introduced us to some of the people working on the device. It has now been revealed that the plan is to have the Project Ara gray handset available by January next year and priced at around $50.
The modular smartphone will allow users to easily swap components on the device to upgrade the handset, which would see five 2 x 1 unit modules and two 2 x 2 unit modules that are fixed to the physical skeleton via electromagnetic force that will keep them in place.
These modules would be available from hardware manufacturers and the company is planning to reveal more at two further Project Ara conferences planned for July and September this year.
Are you excited by this project?
