HTC Desire 816 vs Desire 700 Dual SIM India showdown
The HTC Desire 816 smartphone was recently launched for India and is likely to find plenty of buyers. It was praised in an early review and one of the phones it will find itself up against is the HTC Desire 700 that released earlier this year. Today we’re giving you an HTC Desire 816 vs. Desire 700 Dual SIM India showdown.
Processors
The Desire 816 has a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and Adreno 305 graphics. The Desire 700 has 1.2GHz Spreadtrum Shark quad-core processor with Mali-400 GPU.
Display
The Desire 816 has a 5.5-inch Super LCD2 display with resolution of 1280 x 720 and 267 ppi. The Desire 700 has a 5-inch display with resolution of 960 x 540 and 220 ppi.
RAM and Storage
There’s 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD to 128GB) for the Desire 816. The Desire 700 has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, this time expandable to 64GB.
Camera set-up
The Desire 816 carries a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 1080p video capture, and also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Deisre 700 has an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and 1080p video capture, as well as a 2.1-megapixel front-facing unit.
Battery
The Desire 816 has a 2600 mAh battery while the Desire 700 has a 2100 mAh battery.
Connectivity
Both phones support 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS, EDGE and microUSB 2.0.
Operating System
The Desire 816 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat skinned with HTC’s Sense 6 UI while the Desire 700 (pictured above) runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5.
Dimensions and Weight
The Desire 816 (pictured below) measures 156.6mm x 78.7mm x 8mm and weighs 165g. The Desire 700 measures 145.5mm x 72mm x 10.3mm and weighs 149g.
Price
At the official launch for India the Desire 816 was given a price of Rs. 23,990. The Desire 700 has been available for a few months now and can be found for around Rs. 21,850, depending on retailer.
This comparison doesn’t take into account the design of the phone, which is very much a case of personal taste. However, just by looking at specs it’s pretty clear to see it’s worth paying a bit extra to get the Desire 816. It has superior specs across the board although it does weigh slightly more than the Desire 700, but that seems a minor point considering the many advantages it has.
