Remember the days when new handsets shipped with Jelly Bean while everyone else was on KitKat? Those days are finally coming to an end as we’ve seen many manufacturers roll out smartphones with Android 5.0 pre-installed this year. Well, you can add one more to that list as the Micromax Canvas Juice 2 is headed to India with Lollipop on board.

As the name implies, the Micromax Canvas Juice 2 is a phone with a big battery although the juice box isn’t nearly as large as some we’ve seen. That said, it’s still got plenty of pop with a 3,000mAh battery which is said to allow for around 9 hours of talk time and 18 days of juice on standby.

The rest of the Micromax Canvas Juice 2 specs may surprise you as the phone sports a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720. Under the glass, resides a quad-core 1.3GHz chip with 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable internal storage. All the usual connectivity options are included which means you’ll get 3G, Bluetooth and WiFi along with dual-SIM functionality. Rounding things out is an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing snapper, and the aforementioned Android 5.0 update.

The Micromax Canvas Juice 2 is a solid improvement over its predecessor, and while it’s not available yet, you won’t have to wait long to pick one up. The Canvas Juice 2 will go on sale Thursday, and you’ll be able to pick one up in Silver for Rs. 8,999 through online retailers and storefronts in the country.
