Xiaomi E4 launching as an Mi 4 alternative
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is a great smartphone that’s gained a lot of fans due to its high specs and low price. The Mi Note eventually unseated the device by bumping up the display size, and now we’re getting wind of a new variant. The new handset is called the Xiaomi E4, and it’s thought to be a lower priced alternative to the Mi 4 and Mi Note.
The Xiaomi E4 has just undergone certification in China through TENAA, and as it passed through its gates, we got a glimpse of its specs. The device appears to be a variant of the Mi 4, and will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage compared to the 3GB of RAM and 16/64GB storage configurations found on the Mi 4 and Note.
Everything else is expected to remain the same, so the device should have a Snapdragon 801, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP front-facing snapper. A 5-inch display with 1080p resolution should also be in the cards along with a skinned version of KitKat and a 3,080mAh battery. The device is listed with three network variants in China, so it will be headed to China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom.
The Xiaomi E4 may not sound that exciting when compared to some of the devices we’ve covered this year, but it won’t cost nearly as much as the Galaxy S6 or One M9. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but the device is expected to be sold for around $290 in China.
