There are some smartphone manufacturers that are more familiar names than others and BQ is not such a well-known name. We have featured some of this company’s devices before though, and now the BQ Aquaris X5 Cyanogen Edition has just released in Europe. The company has collaborated with Telefonica and Cyanogen for this phone, and we have the specs details and price ahead.

Let’s begin with the specifications, and the Aquaris X5 is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 412 64-bit quad-core processor with Adreno 306 graphics. It has a 5-inch IPS display with HD resolution of 1280 x 720, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card to 32GB. It’s a dual SIM device that runs the Android 5.1-based Cyanogen OS 12.1, and it has a 2900 mAh battery.

Further BQ Aquaris X5 specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash, and 1080p video capture. There’s also a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with Samsung 5E2 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and LED flash. Connectivity is covered with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and USB OTG. The phone also features FM radio and a 3.5mm audio jack. It measures 144.4mm x 70.5mm x 7.5mm and it weighs 148g.

The Cyanogen BQ Aquaris X5 is available in Spain from today and will also release in the UK and Germany at some point in the next few weeks. Next year Telefonica plans to push out further availability in other areas that it operates in. The phone is also being sold through Movistar in Spain and the price is €209 outright (equivalent to around £148 or RS. 14,880). Alternatively it can be purchased on a 24-month contract.

For the specs of the device the price seems very reasonable. While nothing has been confirmed yet about availability in markets other than those mentioned above, BQ has already offered some of its smartphone in India.
