Samsung Galaxy Note 7 tipped to arrive with only one version
As we creep closer to the fall, the Galaxy Note 7 rumors are really heating up. One of the main questions surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date has been its design, and a new report suggests consumers will only have one way to go this year.
Remember the original Galaxy Edge Note? It was quite unique at the time, but Samsung’s curved panels have come a long way since the days of the single edge. Many assumed we would see a couple of variants on the Note 5 last year although Sammy pulled a quick one and it didn’t happen to their fans dismay. Previous rumors suggested the Galaxy Note Edge series would return this year, and a new report has only added more fuel to that fire.
The Korea Herald has said that Samsung “is not considering launching a flat screen version” of the Galaxy Note 7 this year. That’s great news if you feared Sammy would forgo their Edged variant once again, but bad news if you don’t dig those curves. If true, the company may end up rotating the variants every other year, which would help streamline their already busy smartphone lineup somewhat. It also makes sense due to the fact many consumers only opt to upgrade every 2 years or more.
It was definitely a disappointment to see Samsung shy away from the Edge Note last year. We know that had to cost them more than a few sales given the S6 Edge and Edge Plus popularity, but it appears they will remedy that situation this year. As for the “flat” Galaxy Note 7, don’t hold your breath although one would expect it to make a return in 2017.
