Bell, Telus vs Apple: BlackBerry Storm takes on iPhone

Telus Corp (NYSE:TU) and Bell Canada Inc (TSE:BCE) are releasing Research in Motion (RIM) BlackBerry Storm to knock the top selling touchsceen phone off the top spot. We are of course talking about the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone.

On Wednesday both Telus and Bell announced the arrival of the BlackBerry Storm on their networks in Canada, so for a quick rundown of what the Storm will set you back, if you looking to get yours on Bell then you would need to part with $249 with a three-year plan and depending on how long you take the contract out for you could see yourself paying up to $699 which is what you would pay for the BlackBerry Storm with no term. You must sign a $45 a month deal with Bell on all voice and data plans.

If you want to get your Storm on Telus then you would also pay $249 for the three year plan, but to get the Smartphone with no term it will set you back slightly less at just $599 plus the minimum monthly service plan is $40.

The deals on Bell and Telus are just for Canadian Users and do cost slightly more than Verizon which released the Storm in November in the States, they allow you to just sign a 2 year deal for $249, at the end of the day there is enough choice out there now for you BlackBerry Storm lovers, so which carrier did you chose? And are you happy?

  1. Eric says:

I can’t wait to get a BlackBerry Storm!

I wanted an I Phone at first, but since Telus does not support the I Phone I cant get one, I’m a unionized employee and I will buy from other unions, so the alternative for me is the BlackBerry Storm. I cant wait to get my hands on one.

The only thing I worry about is the rain, it rains a lot in BC and I hope I don’t ruin it with water damage… I might wait for the summer to get one for that reason.

Ugh I cant wait to get rid of this Audiovox 8100 it’s so embarrassing to pull out of my pocket. It’s so old…
