With the word getting out in the United States that the Google Android T-Mobile G1 smartphone if taken outside the US could incur high data roaming charges; T-Mobile has now responded to these reports.

T-Mobile has released a statement which warns G1ers that there is a possibility 3rd-party apps can access the World Wide Web even if the G1 roaming has been turned off.

In the statement, T-Mobile state a T-Mobile G1 customer if leaving the United States of America should contact T-Mobile customer services and ask for the WorldClass feature be added to their current service and the WorldClass feature doesn’t carry any extra charge.

Ok, so here’s my thinking…if the WorldClass feature makes a difference when going abroad, why not simply make it a standard feature?
