PDA devices have plummeted by around 40% year on year
The from IDC’s mobile device technology and trends have apparently revealed that the sales of PDAs have plummeted or should we say fallen by around 40% year on year. In the 15th straight quarter of sales decline only 728,894 PDAs were sold worldwide in quarter 3 which means sales are down by a staggering 39.3% on the same quarter last year.
For those that do not know the handheld device market has been under great pressure and mobile phones plus converged mobile devices appropriating many of the handheld’s salient attributes” and this comes from the mouth of research analyst with IDC Ramon T. Llamas.
Putting it bluntly it is stated that strong growth in the smart phone market is apparently up for blame for the decline but then again that the form factor is not quite dead yet so too speak.
Llamas carried onto say “The handheld device market may be down, but is not necessarily out”. Handheld PDA’s do still have a strong following but is still shrinking though.
