Nokia Collaborates with Creative Designer Frédérique Daubal on New Special Edition Phone

New Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism combines the creative talents of Frédérique Daubal with Nokia’s expert, technical edge

Nokia has teamed up with graphic and fashion designer Frédérique Daubal to collaborate on a brand new special edition design that will allow trend setters to extend style and individuality beyond their wardrobes to their mobile phones. The Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism graphic design was created exclusively by Daubal whose signature illustrations have gained attention from the fashion world — working with some of fashion’s biggest names including Paul Smith and stocking her designs at Colette of Paris.

Daubal’s graphic designs on the illustrated aluminium back covers have also been an inspiration for the spellbinding wallpapers in the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism. The covers have been etched with laser technology making the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism a truly beautiful object to behold.

In creating this unique design, inspiration is taken from the way in which crystals are formed in precious stones and minerals. ‘For the backplate we were looking at light and different directions,’ says Daubal. ‘The first thing for me was to look through a diamond. You see all these different intensities of light.’

Combining special design and technology, the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism features an eye-catching large OLED display, with organic, modern digital art wallpapers inspired by Daubal. From a technical standpoint, the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism comes with a 2 megapixel camera, 3G technology for fast and easy downloads and browsing, 1 GB of internal memory and a music player with matching headset. The user can also personalize the color of the light in the keymat choosing from 49 different colors.

The Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism will be available in the 1st quarter of 2008 with an estimated retail price of 375 EUR, exclusive of subsidies and regional taxes.
