DST and SMS Fix update coming for Sprint Hero soon
No doubt you have already heard about the battery problems and DST mix up along with other annoyances plaguing the Android packing Sprint HTC Hero, and although progress is coming slowly the word is a maintenance fix is heading Hero way according to phandroid.
The Sprint HTC Hero is limping along with Android 1.5 and this is apparently not an upgrade to Android 1.6 or Android 2.0, but does intimate that they are working on it and will announce something in the not too distant future.
One could presume that Sprint is taking it slow and waiting for HTC to complete updating their HTC Sense with Android 2.0, but at least we now know that HTC and Sprint are working to solve the problems experienced.
So, once the fix is pushed out to the Sprint HTC Hero what do you think the chances are of HTC bumping the HTC Hero up to Android 2.0?

This issue is aggravating. I have been missing text messages concerning work, which can cost me money! I’ve felt like I’ve been losing my mind the past few weeks when I keep repeating to people that I haven’t received their texts!

If I’m not mistaken it’s up to Sprint to “ok” the release Android 2.0 for an OTA update. Once HTC is done with porting it’s Sense UI and ironing out the quirks they send it over to Sprint so that they can implement their own apps like Navigation etc.
It has already been announced that the Hero will get the 2.0 upgrade. It is just a matter of when. See the link below.

I just talked to Sprint, because I’m not getting my texts yet again, and I was told the fix is actually on its way today. I hope so, because I’m about to cancel my service with them if they don’t fix it soon.
It’s my understanding HTC/Sprint has already confirmed 2.0 for the Hero, but it won’t be OTA. It will have to be done via USB cable from your computer thru a HTC website, or have Sprint do it by taking your phone to a Sprint store. That’s what they’re saying over at sprintusers.com
