Verizon Release Official OS 5.0.0.591 for BlackBerry Tour 9630
We have a little officialdom in the BlackBerry operating system stakes for BlackBerry Tour 9630 owners today as the guys over at blackberry rocks are reporting that the Official OS 5.0.0.591 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 is now available from Verizon.
And that’s about all they say on the matter, no word on what the official Verizon OS 5.0.0.591 update delivers to the BlackBerry Tour 9630, so if you happen to download and install and find anything of particular intrest please feel free to drop us a line.
As this is an honest to goodness official update of OS 5.0.0.591 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 from Verizon there is of course no need for our usual disclaimer, although we do suggest you back up your data before hand.

I updated to this software last night – some of the key features are gone and it’s ridiculous. We can no longer use the convenience keys to lock our keyboard, and the lock keyboard icon is gone altogether. Major FAIL. I’m looking into downgrading now, not worth it.
I updated the software this morning, and to be honest i couldn’t find much that i liked about it. The sms messages are now threaded and they look very unprofessional. the lock keys are different now as well, and for the worse i might add. after about two hours of having the new software i downgraded.
I’m having the same problem – what on earth did they do to my tour? I’m also noticing more freezing between navigating different application icons. I used to be able to escape this by popping up the options window then closing it again, but it doesn’t work as well this time around.
The missing lock item really sucks – does anyone know a workaround or how to get it back?!?!
The key on the top left of the phone (that looks like a lock) is you lock and unlock key. It’s quite simple.
I agree with the last four comments exactly. What were they thinking. I hate it and want my old system back!!
@ Chrissy: "the key on the top left of the phone (that looks like a lock)"
I don't see a key that has a lock symbol on it. The top left key on my 9630 is the green "send" key. To it's immediate right is the menu key, immediately under it is the #Q key. Am i missing something? Also
@ Tiffany and Brooklyn: you only downloaded software? or you switched phones? I have these issues on my new 9630, but if it is only software that removed the features you mention (convenience key changes, lock/unlock, message threading) then I am wondering if I can change the software and make myself happy! Thanks for any additional thoughts. EH (guest sign-in)
Eureka I found the unlock key on the 9630! That will teach me to leave home without the silly tips/hints/shortcut book!! The unlock key is on "the top of the phone", not the top of the menu, or the top of the keypad keys…. you must physically look down on the phone from a "birds eye" view, not flat like a desktop view. Then you'll see a nearly invisible icon on the left corner. and yes, the mute button is on the right corner of the top of the phone. Thank you all – it's good people like you that take the time to use these forums that make the new world a bit easier to navigate! (Take note Adobe, RIM… you cut too many corners and your documentation is, well, yuck.)
