HTC EVO 4G Launch Close, Radio Shack Becomes WiMAX Hotspot

As most are aware, the launch of the HTC EVO 4G, the only smartphone that will run on a 4G network, will be launching on the 4th of June. However as most are also aware, Sprint’s 4G network isn’t fully rolled out yet and thus basically limits the use of 4G on the HTC EVO.

However, according to an article over on Engadget penned by Tim Stevens, Radio Shack is looking to help out a bit with that little problem by installing Clearwire WiMAX repeaters in some of their stores before the launch of the HTC EVO 4G.

Basically installing said WiMAX repeaters in effect turns Radio Shack stores into WiMAX hotspots, and although it’s not too clear as to the range of the repeaters it does extend the presence of the WiMAX 4G network a little further.

So if you are eager to grab the HTC EVO 4G, which seems to be quite popular in a popularity poll we have been running which can add your vote (here), and find you can’t get onto the 4G network, maybe paying a trip to your local Radio Shack store may help out, that is if you are one of the lucky ones.
