HTC Droid Incredible In Short Supply Due to Component Shortage
Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam, while at a Barclays Capital Global Communications, Media & Technology conference in New York has stated that demand for the latest Droid smartphone from HTC, the HTC Droid Incredible has been “better than expected.”
However, an article by Sue Marek over on Fierce Wireless by way of the BGR says that McAdam also confirmed that Verizon is finding it difficult to keep up with demand for the HTC Droid Incredible due to HTC’s component shortages, in particular, the HTC Droid Incredible’s 7 panel home screen which is manufactured by Samsung.
The HTC Droid Incredible debuted with the Big Red on the 29th of April and only after a few hours was out of stock through the Verizon Web Store, and apparently those that order the Droid Incredible as of now will gain the device by mid-June.
In order to keep up with demand, Samsung has ramped up their production and as a result Verizon Wireless “expects” to meet demand for the device within the next 30 — 60 days, with McAdam saying, “The Incredible has done very well for us. We could sell twice the number I have at this point.”
