Mobile Money Summit 2010: Partnership Acknowledgement Required Says Nokia VP

Nokia’s Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, Olivier Cognet, during the Mobile Money Summit has stated that if mobile money partnerships are to succeed they need to acknowledge which of the partners brings in new customers.

According to an article over on Mobile Business Briefing, Cognet stated that the partner which originally draws a new customer should be “adequately compensated” for bringing in a new user, and that “There needs to be respect for customer ownership.”

Nokia believes such partnerships are necessary to deliver critical mass which will lead to a global mobile money services success, and is eager to participate in such partnerships and envisages banks and mobile operators also becoming involved.

Cognet also said that there needs to be respect for “the brand sensitivities of all the partners,” and added that there is a need for network and device interoperability to “enable new services to become ubiquitous.”

Nokia is a major partner in the mobile money market and has launched the Nokia Money service in India where Nokia commands a powerful presence.
