HTC Pushing Own Brand TD-SCDMA Smartphones in China
In China mobile phones have been on sale from HTC for years, but under the brand name of HTC partner Dupod, but HTC has now unveiled the first 4 smartphone carrying the HTC brand name in China.
According to an article over on PC World by Dan Nystedt, HTC has also unveiled partnerships with China Mobile and one of China’s largest electronics distributors, Gome Electrical Appliances Holding. Two of the smartphones to initially sport the HTC brand are both for the TD-SCDMA network and are the HTC Tainxi and HTC Tianyi.
According to HTC representative Grace Jin, the HTC Tainyi is an Android device while the HTC Tainxi is a Windows Mobile device, and the remaining two smartphones are the more well known HTC Wildfire and HTC Desire, while all 4 devices will pack Sense UI.
Apparently China Mobile will begin offering the HTC Tianyi and HTC Tianxi by the end of August or early September, however no pricing for the smartphones has been announced.
