Tap tap tap recently submitted a update for their Camera+ iPhone application which features VolumeSnap, a feature which would enable the iPhone volume buttons to be used to control the iPhone camera’s shutter.

However, according to an article over on AppShopper by Marianne Schultz, tap tap tap has now posted to their blog that Apple has rejected the VolumeSnap Camera+ iPhone app update.

Here is Apple’s official rejection response to tap tap tap…” Your application cannot be added to the App Store because it uses iPhone volume buttons in a non-standard way, potentially resulting in user confusion. Changing the behavior of iPhone external hardware buttons is a violation of the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement. Applications must adhere to the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines as outlined in the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement section 3.3.7.”

However, it may not quite be the end of the line as according to tap tap tap, there’s one area where Apple changed their policy recently over the use of iPhone hardware, being flashlight apps using the iPhone 4 LED light for similar reasons, so maybe Apple will make a u-turn with VolumeSnap soon.
