Verizon iPhone, White iPhone 4, iPhone 5, what do you think?

Ah the big wide world of the tech reporting biz and speculations, for years now rumours of a Verizon iPhone have been hitting the net waves, with the latest being the CDMA iPhone will hit in January 2011, with the most recent of these rumours has it that the Verizon iPhone and the iPhone 5 will be one and the same.

But really the only valid speculation at this time is not with the Verizon iPhone or iPhone 5 but with the white iPhone 4 and just when customers are likely to gain the device. The word is that the white iPhone 4 will be available later this year, but will it or will there be another round of reasons why Apple can’t put the device out.

Rumour has it that the white version has been delayed due to manufacturing problems to do with the paint, and then there’s rumour that it’s being delayed so Apple can fix the antenna issues before releasing the new white version.

But if Apple release an all new antenna fixed white iPhone 4 won’t those that have purchased the black iPhone 4 with the antenna issue want to change their device for a white one without the antenna problems?

No doubt if the Verizon iPhone arrives in January, many will opt to go with the Big Red, but will those people already tied into a 2 year contact pay to get out of that contract to switch to Verizon? If and this is a big if, Apple decide to push out the iPhone 5 months early, would those that have already purchased the iPhone 4 be ready to purchase the iPhone 5?

All speculation and rumours, but what we’d like to know is what our readers think of these rumours. Should Apple release a Verizon iPhone next? Should they release an iPhone 5 next, or should they just get a move on and push out the white iPhone 4?

Wow! You’re really dragging the barrel with that king of story. Can you not do journalism of your own? Or do you need to cobble together bullish!t our of weeks old speculation in order to keep readers?

I left big red to go to at fr the new iphone but if big re gets te iphone i january i will be going back to ig red asap because although the iphone 4 is great i have had more dropped calls in 2 weeks than i have had in in 12 years with sprint and the two years i was with big red! I will just put my iphone up for sale nd ump it ad get the one from Verizon.

  4. i think apple should DEFINITELY break their ties with AT&T finally and move to Verizon. From a business standpoint, it just makes so much more sense! But truthfully, what I would like to see more, is freedom with cell phone services and mobile phones. I used to live in Australia, and by law, all cell phones purchased must be unlocked from any carriers. And not just Australia, but Singapore and many other countries do this. Why hasn't America caught on with this?! So I would definitely love to see Verizon go to gsm technology with their phones so then people can use iPhone with verizon and an array of different mobile phones. Not to mention, that means that Apple will not have to invest tons of money on developing a cdma phone for the public. I don't think it would be fair to release an iPhone 5 just yet, because it would really make many apple fans unhappy for spending money on a phone and having a new one come out less than a year later. So if apple does decide to make the move to Verizon or Verizon decides to get gsm technology (finally), then at that time it would be best to manufacture more white iphones.

Umm, that's not quite true. Most phones purchased in Australia are locked to their respective networks (eg. Telstra, Optus, Vodafone). However, most companies will be happy to unlock your phone either for free (if certain conditions are met) or for a small fee.

I don't know if that's still the case. Anyway, the more important point here is that in Australia, no carrier has the distribution rights of any phone… Consumer choice 🙂

I don’t think there will be an iPhone 5 until next June, But I would like to see apple fix any kind of issue with the antenna before they put the white iPhones out , after that , I can see them going to verizon. Just makes sense. But what I’d like to see is if and when they “fix” the antenna problem is send customers that already bought a black iPhone 4 , a “fixed” one because I don’t think it’s fair at all that we have to walk around with a f**kin bumper or a case on our phones if the white iPhones don’t. The bumper takes away from the design and it blows.

Are people still complaining about the antenna!? That's not the problem! If you drop a call, you should hear two audible tones. If you're not hearing those tones, the call wasn't dropped…your cheek probably hung-up on the person. The real problem with the iPhone 4 isn't the antenna; it's the proximity sensor.
Try this…next time you're on a call, hit the homescreen and launch the calculator. Then continue your phone conversation. At the end, see if the calculator's keys were pressed. You'll probably see a very large number.
