Apple Guru Steve Jobs Gets Mouthy with Activation Claims, Google Replies
It appears that Apple guru Steve Jobs’ big gob has shoved a right jibe at competitor Google as apparently during Apple’s special event yesterday, Jobs claimed that unspecified “friends” have actually counted device upgrades in their statistics and not just activated devices.
According to an article over on Engadget by Sean Hollister, and by way of a piece by Fortune, the Google guys haven’t taken Steve Jobs claims lightly and have issues a reply to the jibe.
Here’s what Google responded to Jobs accusation…”The Android activation numbers do not include upgrades and are, in fact, only a portion of the Android devices in the market since we only include devices that have Google services.”
So who to believe? Well Apple doesn’t have a problem at making questionable claims, and well the Android platform is getting kind of big and if everything was taken into consideration it wouldn’t surprise me if Google and Android have surpassed the iPhone.
So what do you think, has Google been “doctoring” the number, or is Jobs simply shooting off at the mouth? Feel free to shout out your opinion in our comment area below.
