It appears that HTC is doing a bit of honour to Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 with the successor to their HTC HD2 smartphone the HTC HD3 as apparently the new device is already alive and will gain a new name due to the Windows Phone 7 platform.

According to Vlad Savov over at Engadget, the HTC HD3 will henceforth be known at the HTC HD7 in honour of Windows Phone 7 and apparently will possibly become available as early as the 18th of Oct.

They do say though that the only evidence of the upcoming Windows Phone 7 HTC HD7 is a spreadsheet which they have been informed is of an internal doc from O2 UK, so looks like O2 will be gaining the HTC HD7 at some point.

Obviously it isn’t the firmest of evidence but it does go to show that HTC isn’t against leaping a couple of numbers to push out a device that can be associated with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.
