Mobile Apps Not That Popular With Adults Says Study
Today’s smartphone are not like the mobile phones of the past as smartphones delivers the ability to use applications, which according to the app stores such as the iPhone App Store, Android Market and such, is big business.
However apparently not when it comes to adult users of smartphones, as according to an article over on Intomobile by Marin Perez, a new study carried out by Pew Internet suggests that the majority of adults don’t actually use mobile apps.
Apparently the Pew reports found that 35 percent of adults in the US have mobile apps but only 24 percent of those adults use them. The study was carried out by polling 2,000 adults and according to Pew there is a margin of error of 2.4 percent.
Kristen Purcell, associate director of Pew says…“An apps culture is clearly emerging among some cell phone users, particularly men and young adults. Still, it is clear that this is the early stage of adoption when many cell owners do not know what their phone can do. The apps market seems somewhat ahead of a majority of adult cell phone users.”
According to the study 29 percent of those polled have downloaded apps while 13 percent have downloaded paid apps, and approximately 11 percent simply weren’t clear if their smartphone was even capable of using applications.
