Android Gingerbread Then Honeycomb and Then Ice Cream
The Android operating system has taken on a sweet naming way, with the likes of Cupcake, Donut, Éclair, Froyo, and the next release will be Gingerbread followed by Honeycomb, and now there’s even word on what the Android OS will be named in the version following Honeycomb.
According to an article over on Intomobile by Blake Stimac, Tudor Brown, the president of ARM, in an interview with Forbes let it slip that Android next version would be known as Ice Cream.
Obviously Ice Cream is in line with Google’s current line of naming the Android platform versions, and I can’t see why Brown would say its Ice Cream if he wasn’t sure, although as Gingerbread and Honeycomb hasn’t been released yet it’s somewhat early to be worrying about a new name.
In the Forbes article they name Gingerbread as Android 3.0 and Honeycomb as Android 3.5 although there has been no confirmation of such from the Android camp as far as we are aware, and for now only Google will know that answer.
