Verizon Hands Big Bucks to FCC and Customer Compensation

Remember Verizon Wireless was being investigated by the FCC due to charging their customers for using data that said customers didn’t actually use? Well it appears that the FCC has now come to a conclusion which is costing the Big Red a tidy sum.

According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report, by Andrew Munchbach, Verizon Wireless is to hand over a cool $25 million to the FCC due to the “mystery fee” the Big Red charged its customers over a long period of time.

But that’s not all Verizon is going to have to pay out as Verizon has also got to shell out a large $52.8 million in compensation to 15 million Big Red customers that were erroneously charged the data fees over a period of three years.

Which basically means that if you were one of Verizon’s customers who were charged for data that you didn’t use then you are due a somewhat small refund. A lot of cash from Verizon but not so much for the customer it would seem.
